John Sickel
Swimming in the Cesspool of Success
(not by Kent Powell)

John, or "Dr. Sic" as the rest of Ben Strange calls him, has been playing drums since 1965.  He met the other members of Ben Strange while on a drunken binge.  After coming to his senses he found he had been hijacked into the band to provide them with a little backbone.  (Very little according to Chip!)  Along with playing the drums and other assorted percussion instruments, he is also a Master Scuba diver.  He was first certified as a diver in 1975.  "Having the correct breathing apparatus is very important when swimming in the cesspool of success", states Doc.  He also practices law in his spare time.  He lists his influences as Ringo Starr of the Beatles, Bill Kreutzmann & Mickey Hart of the Greatful Dead, and Buddy Rich among other.  His favorite type of music is "good".

When asked to sum up his philosophy of life, he stated, "What?"  Then after pondering for a few moments, he came to the realization that he didn't have one.

The Doctor (Doctor of Jurisprudence) did, however, want to "thank all his family and friends for this prestigious award and accepted it on behalf of all the little people everywhere."   After explaining to him that it was not an award, but an interview for the Ben Strange website, he said, "Oh.  Well then good night -- sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite..."
